    •  Open UIC*’ departs from closed university systems to pursue sustainable development by bringing • universities into the region' through open collaboration to solve industrial-site and regional issues *UIC:University-Industry Collaboration

    •  The • Busan-style Open UIC' makes type-specific regional universities an Open Innovation HUB that builds a cooperation ecosystem with Busan City, companies, research institutes, and support agencies, establishing diverse co-growth systems from local to global

    •  Through Busan-style RISE, the Busan-style Open UIC serves as a hub of open innovation where region-based specialized region·industry·academia·research cooperation creates new growth engines for regional development

  • Goals
    Prepare the foundation for the Busan-style Open UIC through Busan-style RISE
  • Implementation
    Build innovation clusters for cooperation among region·industry·academia·research across Busan·s five new industries and nine strategic industries
    1. Resolve local labor-market mismatches by strengthening university education linked to regional industries
    2. Enhance innovation capabilities of regional companies through market-friendly university·industry·research cooperation with mid-sized, small, and venture firms
    3. Create the foundation for a regional startup ecosystem by activating university-led startups
    4. Promote sustainable Busan-style region·industry·academia·research cooperation by building an institution-to-institution, always-on cooperation system* rather than one-off person-to-person collaboration

    Develop quantitative indicators'the • Busan-style Open UIC Index''and identify best practices
    • Develop the Busan-style Open UIC Index'a quantified indicator of region·industry·academia·research cooperation capabilities of regional universities through Busan-style RISE'and set a target of 8.2% average annual growth over five years
    • Set • openness of region·industry·academia·research cooperation based on regional industries' as a qualitative evaluation indicator and create best practices for innovation clusters in Busan·s five new and nine strategic industries
